MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY

 OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE

APRIL 11, 2007

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

• Luke Tirrell called the meeting to order.  The following members were in attendance: Sandra Fornino – Joe Krimko – Mike Palermo – Luke Tirrell

        Absent: Teretha Jones – Laura Granelli – Tom Catley

• Motion was made by Sandra Fornino and seconded by Joe Krimko to accept the minutes of the March  14^th meeting.  Motion passed.

MEET THE STAFF

• The staff “star of the month” was Henrietta “Bunnie” Dawson.  Bunnie is a part-time library assistant. One of her duties is to research overdues and final bills.

TREASURER’S REPORT

• The report was read by Mike Palermo. The following finances were presented:

        --$56.90 reimbursement to Joyce Wallace for items stolen from her car.

        --Quarterly payment of $9188.00 to the general fund.

        --$250 to purchase books for the ESL World Fiesta program.

• Motion was made by Mike Palermo to accept the report and pay the bills.  Joe Krimko seconded.   Motion passed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

• Res. #R7-07: To accept the resignation, with regrets, of Elizabeth Kelly,  effective  April 14, 2007.  Motion to accept made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko.  Motion passed.

• Res. # R8-07: Promoting John Bonney from Library Assistant to Senior Library Assistant with an annual salary of $28,976 effective May 1, 2007.  Motion to accept made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko.  Motion passed.

• Res. #R9-07  Hiring Henrietta “Bunnie” Dawson in a full-time capacity with an annual salary of $24,976 with benefits, effective April 16, 2007.  Motion to accept made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko.  Motion passed.

• Res. #R10-07 Authorizing the Library Director to certify grant applicants on behalf of the Neptune Public Library. Motion to accept made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko.  Motion passed.

OLD BUSINESS

• A thank you card from John Bonney expressing gratitude for the tuition reimbursement he received in January.

• We are still waiting to hear from Asbury Park Library concerning the wheelchair bound patron. 

NEW BUSINESS

• Marian stated that she will be speaking to the Gables Residents Association on Sunday, April 15^th.   The topic will be “ Libraries, where it is, where it was and where it’s going.”  She will also be speaking on May 22^nd at the Shark River Hills Homeowners Association.

ADJOURNMENT

• Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko.  Motion passed.
