MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE

August 9, 2006

 

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

  • Luke Tirrell called the meeting to order at 4:30.  The following members were in attendance: Sandra Fornino – Laura GranelliTeretha Jones – Joe Krimko – Mike Palermo – Janice Sweeney – Luke Tirrell

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The motion was made by Sandra Fornino and seconded by Teretha Jones to accept the minutes of the July 12, 2006 meeting. Motion passed.

 

MEET THE STAFF

  • The staff “star of the month” was Alexis Anderson. Alexis started out as a library page and is now a part-time librarian assistant. 

 

TREASURER’S REPORT

  • The report was read by Mike Palermo. 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

  • Res. #15-06: to extend the temporary employment of Alexis Anderson until the part-time position is filled by the Board at the Sept. 13th meeting.  She will receive no benefits during this extension.  The resolution was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko, with one abstention.  Motion passed.

 

  • A discussion was held on the Township dress code as it applies to the Library. Some items were removed from the list and others were added.  The dress code deemed appropriate for the library will be presented at the next Board meeting.

 

  • Marian reported that several staff members received rewards this month.  Sandy Michlich, Margie Beatty and Christine Duffy received “Musty Dusty” awards for cleaning the periodical room and moving items into the basement for storage.  Henrietta Dawson received an award for attending classes on her own time to improve her computer skills and gain knowledge. The Board decided that Henrietta should be compensated for her hours as well.  

 

OLD BUSINESS

  • The Trustee by-laws were reviewed and discussed.  The updated version will be presented at the next meeting for approval. 

 

NEW BUSINESS

  • A discussion was held on FMLA leave in regards to having available sick time and vacation time.

 

  • Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko.
