MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE

FEBRUARY 11, 2009

 CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

The meeting was called to order at 5:05pm by Luke Tirrell. The following were in attendance:

Luke Tirrell – Mike Palermo – Claudia Mooij – Joe Krimko – Laura Granelli – Teretha Jones

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

CORRECTIONS

--All officers were nominated to the positions instead of re-elected.

--funding level for municipal public libraries should be 1/6 of a millage instead of 1/3.

Mike Palermo made the motion to accept the minutes of the January 14, 2009 meeting with corrections.  Teretha Jones seconded the motion.   Motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT

The report was read by Mike Palermo.  Mike reported on the budget  meeting  with Mike Bascom, Marian and  Kevin McMillan.  Mike stated that he walked away from the meeting feeling that we have the support of the township.

---check for 1913.45 for the February bill list.

--second check  to cover bill list dated for February 26 meeting.

Motion to accept the report and pay the bills was made by Joe Krimko and seconded by Teretha Jones. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Personnel – no report

Budget – no report

Building

The arm for the handicap door has been ordered.  The purchase order is ready so installation

can start as soon as the piece arrives.

Policies

Teresa stated that staff members  would like to meet  to discuss a policy issue.

Outreach – no report

OLD BUSINESS

The township  did not have a quorum for the February 9^th meeting, therefore the resolution for library funding was not done.

The new server has been installed. Mike Yushack can now administer the server from his home if needed.

 Our new  domain name is neptunepubliclibrary.org.

More “collections” items are being returned since the in house procedure was changed. Kathy has recovered 25 items (a value of $546.16).

NEW BUSINESS

The library will be participating in “Snapshot Day – One Day in the Life of New Jersey’s Libraries”.  This  includes snapshots of people using the library,  with statistics that will be totaled on a state-wide level to show the impact libraries have on communities.

Teretha Jones made a motion to reimburse John Bonney $500 for tuition.  Mike Palermo seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Teretha Jones made a motion to authorize the amount of  $1600 for Krista Horan to attend Computers in Libraries conference  in Arlington, VA from March 30^th to April 1^st.  Mike Palermo seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Joe Krimko read correspondence from :

--Dawn Thompson ,  thanking Marian and John for hosting the   “Families Talking” Workshop.

--Natalie Fox,  from the Ocean Grove Book Club , thanking Marian for the Bookclub in a Bag service.

--Mary Pat Angelini, Assemblywoman, 11^th District,  thanking Marian for the copy of the librarys’

resolution in opposition to the NJ League of Municpalities to reduce funding for  libraries.

ADJOURNMENT

After all business was concluded, the meeting was adjourned at 5:45pm.  Motion was made by Joe Krimko.  Mike Palermo seconded.
