MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIRARY
OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE
JANUARY 10, 2007
CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Luke Tirrell called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. The following members were in attendance: Luke Tirrell – Sandra Fornino – Laura Granelli – Teretha Jones – Joe Krimko – Mike Palermo.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Luke Tirrell was elected as president, nominated by Mike Palermo and seconded by Teretha Jones. Joe Krimko was elected as vice president/secretary, nominated by Teretha Jones and seconded by Mike Palermo. Mike Palermo was nominated as treasurer, nominated by Sandra Fornino and seconded by Joe Krimko. All votes were unanimously passed.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion was made by Teretha Jones to approve the minutes of the December 13th 2006 meeting. Mike Palermo seconded.
WELCOME TO NEW BOARD MEMBER
Tom Catley, the Mayor’s representative, unable to attend this meeting, was acknowledged.
MEET THE STAFF
The staff “star of the month” was Lynn Quinlan. Lynn is one of our newest employees and is being trained to assist with office responsibilities.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Mike Palermo read the treasurer’s report. Motion was made by Teretha Jones and seconded by Laura Granelli to accept the report. Motion passed.
Resolution R4-07: Reimbursement to John Bonney for $500 for tuition fees.
Motion by Joe Krimko and seconded by Mike Palermo to accept. Motion passed.
Resolution R3-07: To compensate Sue Waters for sixty-six days and 1.25 hours of sick time. Motion by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko. Motion passed.
APPROVE MEETING SCHEDULE FOR 2007
Motion to approve the time of 4:30 p.m. and the dates scheduled per month was made by Teretha Jones and seconded by Mike Palermo. Motion passed.
APPOINT RECORDING SECRETARY FOR 2007
Deborah Mayhue was appointed recording secretary for 2007. Motion was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Teretha Jones. Motion passed.
COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS
The following committees were formed: Budget: Mike Palermo as chair and Joe Krimko. Building: Joe Krimko as chair and Laura Granelli. Outreach: Luke Tirrell as chair and Laura Granelli. Personnel: Luke Tirrell as chair, Mike Palermo and Teretha Jones. Policies: Sandra Fornino as chair and Luke Tirrell. Motion to accept the committee assignments as formed, was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Teretha Jones.
DESIGNATION OF NEWSPAPERS
Joe Krimko made the motion that the Asbury Park Press and Coaster will be the newspaper of choice for posting legal ads and notices. Seconded by Mike Palermo. Motion passed.
DESIGNATION OF BOOK VENDORS
Joe Krimko made the motion to accept the vendors listed per resolution R1-07 for the year 2007. Mike Palermo seconded. Motion passed.
Joe Krimko made the motion to accept Shore Systems Inc. as the computer consultant firm for 2007 as per resolution R2-07. Seconded by Teretha Jones. Motion passed.
COMMITTEE REPORT
Marian and Mike Palermo will meet with Phil Huhn, Mike Bascom and Tom Catley for a budget hearing on Tuesday, Jan 16th.
The township is moving ahead with the building renovations.
OLD BUSINESS
The discussion on fingerprinting was tabled for another month in order to gather more information and also to allow the new Board member to get up to speed.
Marian stated that all staff members are now wearing name tags. The entire name has been covered to show the first name only.
NEW BUSINESS
“Read Across America” will be held on Friday, March 2, which is the birthday of Dr. Seuss. A party is being planned. Township Officials will be asked to come and read to the children. Board members are also encouraged to come out and read or participate in an activity. The party will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Motion to close for executive session was made by Joe Krimko.
