MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY
OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE

JUNE 10, 2009

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

The meeting was called to order at 5:05pm by Luke Tirrell.  The following were in attendance:

Luke Tirrell – Mike Palermo – Joe Krimko – Claudia Mooij – Teretha Jones – Kevin McMillan

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Joe Krimko to accept the minutes of the May 13^th meeting.  Mike Palermo seconded.  Motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT

• The report was read by Mike Palermo.  The reports  are incomplete because of ongoing updating at the township .  Purchase orders from 2008 have been closed and this will have an effect on the account balances.   Collections brought in $387.28 for the month of May.

• ----check for $2747.79 to the township general fund. 

• Motion made by Joe Krimko to accept the report and pay the bills.  Claudia Mooij seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

There were no committee reports for the month of May.

OLD BUSINESS

• The final draft of the Issuance and Use of Library Card policy was presented for review.   After all discussion,  Mike Palermo made the motion to accept the Issuance and Use of Library Card policy.  Teretha  Jones seconded.  Motion carried. 

• Motion was made by Kevin McMillan to eliminate the Proof of Residence Policy which was passed on  1-14-09.  Mike Palermo seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

• Motion was made by Teretha Jones to eliminate the Policy of Rates for Non-resident Patrons which was passed  on 4-14-04.  Mike Palermo  seconded the motion.  Motion carried.   Marian thanked the Policy Committee for all of their input and hard work to make this happen.                                                                                                                                                                  

NEW BUSINESS

• Res #7-09 : Promoting John Bonney from Library Intern to Librarian, at an annual salary of $49,286, effective July 1, 2009. Motion to accept was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Kevin McMillan. Motion carried.

• John attended Texas Women’s University and received a Master’s Degree in Library Science. 

• Luke Tirrell thanked Marian for doing a wonderful job of outreach at the Get Employed program at the Middle School, and wanted the Board to know  that Marian, on short notice,  was able to come to the program , gave a great presentation with  handout information. 

•  Book-Club-in-a-Bag members and Jumping Brook Villas will be joining the Friends of the Library.

• Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs Inc. will be having an information session here at the library on June 18^th. 

• A discussion was held on the holidays  for 2010.  A schedule of the holidays will be included in the July agenda packet for  additional discussion at the meeting.

ADJOURNMENT

After all business was concluded, the meeting was adjourned at 5:35 pm.  Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Palermo  and seconded by Joe Krimko.  Motion carried.
