MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE

June 9, 2004

• Jill Osis called the meeting to order at 4:35 p.m.

• The following members were present: Jill Osis – Peggy Auerbacher – Joe Krimko – Teretha Jones.

Absent: Angela Ricciuti – Luke Tirrell – Kathy Golub

• Teretha Jones made the motion to approve the minutes of the May 12^th meeting. Seconded by Joe Krimko.

• Marian Bauman read the treasurer’s report. After a brief discussion on the finances, the Board decided to transfer the $9500.00 disbursement into the general account now instead of waiting until July.

• Marian informed the Board that we have received our E-rate rebate from our telecommunications charges in the amount of $3960.00, which has been deposited in the library account.

• A discussion was held on funding for teens and “tweens” (pre-teenage boys and girls). After the discussion, a motion was made by Teretha Jones and seconded by Joe Krimko to allocate $2500.00 of the E-rate refund to purchase non-fiction (paperback) material (1000.00) and fiction material for “tweens” (1500.00). Motion passed.

• The Board has authorized a maximum of $100.00 to be spent on stationery supplies for the Friends of the Library group. Invitations will be mailed and the first meeting has been scheduled for July 15^th at 4:30 p.m.

• A discussion was held on the library lost and paid policy. A motion was made by Jill Osis that the library adopts a new policy, effective July 1^st, that any book that is lost and paid for and later returned, will be charged the maximum fine of $2.00 which will be subtracted from the total price paid for the book. Seconded by Joe Krimko.

• Motion to close for executive session made by Joe Krimko. Seconded by Peggy Auerbacher.
