MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY

 OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE

MARCH 12, 2008

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

• Luke Tirrell called the meeting to order.  The following were in attendance:  Laura Granelli – Teretha Jones – Joe Krimko – Jim Manning – Mike Palermo - Luke Tirrell – Janet Van Rooy

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

• A motion was made by Joe Krimko to approve the minutes of the February 13^th meeting.  The motion was seconded by Mike Palermo.  Motion passed.

TREASURER’S REPORT

• The background checks are all finished.  Any new employee  will be done during the three month probation period. 

• A discussion was held on the new reports.  After explaining each report, Marian asked the Board members which ones they would like to receive each month.  A motion was made by Teretha Jones to accept the report and pay the bills.  Seconded by Mike Palermo. Motion passed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Personnel

Marian reported that a lot of staff has been out sick this month.

Hoa Tran has requested a leave of absence from March 5^th to May 5^th.  Other staff members will be used to fill in the nights and Saturdays. 

Luke met the support staff at  the March moral focus group meeting.

The purpose was to keep the communication going  between the Board and the staff, and to discuss personnel related issues.

FMLA leave has been affirmed for Henrietta Dawson.

Budget 

Mike Bascom will be sending E-mails to each department stating the status of their budget.  If there are any budget cuts, it will not interfere with the library filling the part-time position that is open.

Building

A valve in the ceiling was not turned off last Friday while the company was working on our thermostats.  This resulted in a small flood in the downstairs workroom.   Other than minor damage to audio-visual supplies and computer cables, everything is okay and the thermostats are now working.

OLD BUSINESS

• Marian thanked Joe Krimko for coming  in to sign purchase orders and requisitions  while she was on vacation. 

• Teretha Jones stated  that the library gang  had a good time at the Black History Program.  Everything was well received. 

NEW BUSINESS

• No new business.

ADJOURNMENT

• Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Palermo.  Seconded by Joe Krimko.  Motion passed.
