MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE
MARCH 11, 2009
CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order at 5:05pm by Joe Krimko. The following were in attendance:
Joe Krimko – Claudia Mooij – Laura Granelli – Teretha Jones.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Teretha Jones made the motion to accept the minutes of the February 11, 2009 meeting. Laura Granelli seconded the motion. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
The report was read by Marian Bauman.
---Check for 10.99 for lost ILL book from Mercer County Library
---Check for 3150.14 to cover the March bill list.
Teretha Jones made the motion to accept the report and pay the bills. Laura Granelli seconded the motion. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Personnel: no report
Budget: no report
Building: Joe stated that the Township has passed a resolution to purchase furniture for the renovation.
Policies: Teretha stated that a meeting has been planned with staff members who feel they have important information that should be considered before finalizing the non-resident policy.
Outreach: no report
OLD BUSINESS
Resolution #09-132, opposing decrease on state funding to municipal public libraries was passed by the Township at the meeting February 23rd.
Snapshot Day statistics were presented to the Board. The day was very successful.
“Read Across America” has been rescheduled for April 6 from 3:30 – 4:30.
NEW BUSINESS
Resolution #R5-09: Accepting , with regrets, the resignation of Annaleigha Ortega from library page employment, effective April 10, 2009. Motion to accept was made by Laura Granelli. Teretha Jones seconded. Motion carried.
The library will be purchasing a movie license to be in compliance to show movies. The cost for the license is $385 per year. There will be extra charges for movies from small independent film companies that are not covered by the license.
A discussion was held on the after school problems. Code of Conduct Policy with a Zero Tolerance for Infractions list was passed to the students as they entered the library. Patrons have complained to the staff and called the police. It was suggested giving a copy of the policy along with a cover letter to the Police Dept., Board of Education and the members of the Township committee. It was also suggested publishing the policy in the Coaster as well as the Township newsletter that goes to residents by mail.
ADJOURNMENT
After all business was concluded the meeting was adjourned at 5:45pm. Motion to adjourn was made by Teretha Jones and seconded by Claudia Mooij.
