MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE
May 12, 2004
- Jill Osis called the meeting to order at 4:35 p.m.
- The following members were present: Jill Osis – Peggy
Auerbacher – Angela Ricciuti – Joe Krimko – Kathy Golub – Luke Tirrell
- Also in attendance: Dr. Michael Lake, Superintendent,
Neptune Board of Education.
- Peggy Auerbacher made the motion to accept the minutes
of the April 14th meeting. Seconded by Joe Krimko. Motion passed.
- Kathy Golub read the treasurer’s report. A motion was made by Joe Krimko to
accept the report and pay the bills. Seconded by Angela Ricciuti. Motion passed.
- A discussion was held on the laptop computer and
digital camera purchase. Since the
total purchase price for the items is over the approved amount, Peggy
Auerbacher made the motion to amend the amount for purchase to $1661. Kathy Golub seconded the motion. Motion passed.
- The line item for the Summer Reading Program was
omitted from the Trustee Budget. A discussion was held on this issue and
also suggestions for additional programs during the summer. A motion was made by Kathy Golub and
seconded by Angela Ricciuti to add a line of $1800 to the budget for Summer
Reading activities. Motion passed.
- Dr. Lake addressed the Board concerning the library
tutoring policy. Effective July 1st,
due to lack of space, tutors will not be allowed to use the library to
tutor their students.
- A discussion was held on strategic planning for the
library. The purpose is to utilize
space for the best use of the groups in the community that need them.
- The worksheet for community strengths, weakness,
opportunities and threats were completed and discussed.
- Luke Tirrell talked briefly about the Municipal Drug
Alliance. The SNERP program has
made changes this year. The
library meeting room will be used three nights during the program.
- Sandy Michlich has requested family leave starting July
12th through September 3rd. The personnel committee will be working
with Marian during the next month to deal with staff issues and
coverage. Jill Osis made the
motion that the Board grant Sandy Michlich family leave beginning July 12th
and extending for a maximum of twelve weeks. Health benefits will be paid during this period. Seconded by Kathy Golub. Motion passed.
- The Board has given permission for late opening on
Wednesday, June 30th for Library Team Building and on
Wednesday, September 1st, for Sexual Harassment Training. The library will open at 1:00 p.m. each
day.
- July 15th is the kick off day for the
Neptune Library Association “Friends of the Library”. Invitations will be sent to likely
candidates.
- Motion to adjourn was made by Angela Ricciuti and
seconded by Kathy Golub.
