MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY

 OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE

MAY 9, 2007

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

• Luke Tirrell called the meeting to order.  The following members were in attendance: Luke Tirrell – Sandra Fornino – Laura Granelli – Teretha Jones – Mike Palermo – Joe Krimko

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

• Motion was made by Teretha Jones to accept the minutes of the April 11^th meeting.  Mike Palermo seconded. Motion passed.

MEET THE STAFF

• The staff “Star of the Month” was Kay Worrell.  Kay, hired in November of 2006 is a full time librarian assistant. Her main job is periodicals.  She is in charge of all magazines and newspapers from the time they arrive until the time of discard.

TREASURER’S REPORT

• The report was read by Mike Palermo. The following finances were presented:

        -- check for $18.49 to Ocean County Library for a lost ILL book.

• A discussion was held on leasing a color copier.  The majority of the Board was opposed to the idea of leasing and suggested investigating  a purchase agreement for the same copier from the same company.  This discussion was tabled until the next meeting in order to gather more information. A motion was made by Teretha Jones and seconded by Mike Palermo to accept the report and pay the bills. Motion passed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

• Res. #R11-07: Hiring Hoa Tran, effective May 1, 2007, in a part-time capacity for up to 24 hours per week, at an hourly rate of $13.72 with no benefits. Motion to accept was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Teretha Jones. Motion passed.

• Res. #R12-07: Hiring Analeigha Ortega from June 25, 2007 through August 25, 2007 for a maximum of 24 hours per week with no benefits at an hourly rate of $7.50. Motion to accept was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko.  Motion passed.

• The Test Monitoring/Exam Proctoring Policy was distributed for review.

• A motion was made by Teretha Jones and seconded by Laura Granelli to accept the policy.  Motion passed.

OLD BUSINESS

• The Asbury Park Library has declined our offer concerning their disabled resident.  We will invoice them for the $30.00.

• The personnel policy was distributed for review.

ADJOURNMENT

• Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Laura Granelli.  Motion passed.
