MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE

OCTOBER 15, 2008

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

The meeting was called to order by Luke Tirrell at 5:00pm.  The following were in attendance: Luke Tirrell – Mike Palermo – Laura Granelli – Joe Krimko – Teretha Jones – Janet Van Rooy

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion was made by Joe Krimko and seconded by Mike Palermo to accept the minutes of the September 17, 2008 meeting.  Motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT

The report was read by Laura Granelli. 

-----check for $34.95 for lost interlibrary material.

Motion to accept the report and pay the bills was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Joe Krimko. 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Personnel: no report

Budget: no report

Building: Joe Krimko and Marian met with the Township Engineer to go over the plans for the renovation and to make sure that she is up to date on the requirements for the library.

Policies: no report

Outreach: no report

The staff “Star of the Month” is Laura Hanf.  Laura is our newest part-time employee. 

OLD BUSINESS

Marian stated that the Banned Book program was a success. The audience included a few teenagers with parents. 

John Bonney gave his report on  computer classes he intends to teach for 2009.  The statistics for the past three months are impressive, with a total of ninety students and twenty-one classes.

NEW BUSINESS

Starting the new year,  patrons will receive slips when they check out material.  The slips will list all material that is checked out under that patron’s name.  We will also begin to use new cards to go into the pockets of the books. These cards will not have due dates but will have other important information the patron needs to know.

Marian stated that staff evaluations are being done and the budget for next year is being worked on. 

David Mooij will be speaking at the “Friends” meeting on November 20^th.  

Final Book Sale is scheduled for October 25^th.

A” Friends” membership drive is going on now.  All new “Friends” will be invited to the covered dish luncheon in December.

Resolution #R15-08: Amending salary of Hoa Tran to $14.30. Motion to accept was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Janet Van Rooy.  Motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Teretha Jones.  Motion carried.
