MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY

 OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEPTUNE

SEPTEMBER 12, 2007

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

• Luke Tirrell called the meeting to order.  The following were in attendance: Luke Tirrell – Sandra Fornino – Teretha Jones – Joe Krimko – Jim Manning – Mike Palermo

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

• A motion to approve the minutes of the August 8, 2007 meeting was made by Sandra Fornino and seconded by Joe Krimko.  Motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT

• a $30 refund to Brent Mcfield for a lost book that was found.

• Quarterly payment of $9166 to the general fund.

• $1935 expenses for additional renovations to the workroom (cabinet topper, lighting and refrigerator)

• A motion was made by Joe Krimko to accept the report and pay the bills, seconded by Jim Manning.  Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

PERSONNEL

A letter of resignation from Tom Catley was read to the Board by Luke Tirrell.

BUDGET

No report.

BUILDING

Kudos to the staff for the paint job in the downstairs workroom. 

We are still waiting for an invitation to sit down with the architect for the renovation next door.

POLICIES

The background check policy has been tabled until next month’s meeting. Research is ongoing.

OLD BUSINESS

• None to report.  Renovation tour was held.

NEW BUSINESS

• Resolution #R13-07: To accept, with regrets, the resignation of Kay Worrell from full-time employment, effective Augusst 29, 2007.  She will be paid for her remaining two personal days and 5.5 days of vacation.  Motion to accept was made by Joe Krimko and seconded by Mike Palermo.  Motion carried.

• A discussion was held on the Neptune Schools Summer Reading Assignment.  Marian stated  that the staff had been harassed by parents who did not get the books in a timely fashion. A letter was sent to Bonnie Morris, the curriculum coordinator for the schools, with suggestions to make things run smoother next year. 

• The “Friends of the Library “ made a total of $733.10 on the book sale at Neptune Day.

ADJOURNMENT

• A motion to adjourn was made by Mike Palermo and seconded by Sandra Fornino.   Motion carried.
