Studies have shown that children who do not
practice their reading skills during the summer fall behind their peers when
school starts again in the fall. For this reason, the Neptune
Public Library offers a program of reading incentives to make it fun for
children to sharpen their skills while school is not in session. Weekly raffles,
activity sheets, fast-food burgers and a party at the end of the summer all
create an atmosphere of excitement and a desire to read. Call the Children's
Department for dates and registration information.
