Neptune Public Library's Policies

 

 

 

·        Wireless Hot Spot – Users of notebook computers with wireless cards can use our wireless network to get on the internet for free.

·        Copy Machine Machines are located in each department. 15 cents per copy.

·        Public Phone Located outside the library entrance next to the bike rack.

·        Book Drop Located to the right of the main entrance. Used when the library is closed.

Public Internet Computers Available for one hour per day. Appointments can be made daily or in advance by phone.

·        ILL Services – We can borrow material from other libraries if we don’t have it.

·        Story Hour – Toddler Storytime for two year olds and Preschool Storytime for three and four year olds. 

·        Summer Reading ProgramA program of reading incentives for children ages two and up.  Call the Children’s Dept. for dates and registration information.

·        Craft Programs – Held throughout the year. Call the Children’s Dept. for dates and registration information.

·        Tween Programs --  Activities for students in grades 4-8 include a monthly book club and many other interactive programs for this age group.

·        Monthly Calendar – List of all activities scheduled for the month.  You can sign up to have this mailed to you or check our web site's blog for the latest activities.

PLEASE NOTE:  Cardholders are responsible for all items on their library card and any fines/fees.  Please report a lost card immediately.

A $12.00 fee will be added to all delinquent accounts turned over to our collection agency.  Referring accounts to collection does not mean we give up our rights to pursue them in Municipal Court.  Inter-Library loan materials that are delinquent will be pursued in Municipal Court.

A $2.00 processing fee for lost materials will be charged in addition to the replacement cost.

A $20.00 fee will be charged for returned checks.

 

 

DVD / VIDEOTAPE INFORMATION

 

You can rent DVDs or Videos if:

·        You have a valid library card and are at least 18 years old.

·        You have no overdue items or late fees outstanding.

 

Things you should know:

·        There is a $1.00 charge for each DVD/Video title, to be paid when you check out.

·        If DVD/Videos are not returned on time, the fine is $2.00 per day per DVD/Video title.

·        Most DVDs and Videos circulate for two nights with no renewals. 

·        Fines are not charged for days the library is closed.

·        You are welcome to use the bookdrop to return our DVDs/Videos.

·        If the DVD/Video consists of two tapes (e.g.: The Sound of Music) it will be treated as one.

·        If you lose a DVD/tape or do not return it, you will be charged the full retail price plus $2.00 for the case.

·        The maximum fee for an overdue DVD/Videotape is $10.00.

·        There will be a $1.00 charge for any Video returned but not rewound.

·        If the DVD/Video is damaged you will be charged the full retail value or you can replace it  (exact title and edition required).

·        You can check out up to 5 DVDs/Videotapes.

·        Reserves are not accepted.

·        THERE WILL BE NO REFUND ON DVDS/VIDEOS THAT YOU CHECK OUT AND DO NOT APPRECIATE.

·        Do not try to repair our tapes if they don’t work properly.  If it is truly defective, we will give you credit for another DVD/tape.  If the problem is not the item, you will still be charged the borrowing fee.

·        If DVDs/Videotapes are not returned by closing on the date they are due, they are considered overdue.  At that point, any money you owe becomes a fine and not a rental fee.

·        Borrowers are responsible for any damage done to the DVDs/Videos (e.g.: tape not ejecting from your equipment).

·        DVDs/Videos are licensed only for non-commercial private viewings in homes.  Any other use or copying is strictly prohibited.
